MEMPHIS, TENN. ?
Indiana State outside hitter Jodi Stoker was named to the Tiger Invitational All-Tournament team. The junior from Ames, Iowa, had 75 kills in 189 attacks and just 22 errors in the four games that the Sycamores played in Memphis.
Stoker also had two set assists, four service aces, 21 digs and four blocks during the weekend competition.
Indiana State opened the tournament with a thrilling, five-set win over Troy (22-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-8), which turned out to be the only loss in the tournament for the Trojans.
The Sycamores then dropped three straight, falling to Iona in five sets (21-25, 22-25, 25-17, 27-25, 13-15), Memphis in four sets (18-25, 16-25, 25-21, 20-25), and IUPUI in three sets (23-25, 18-25, 24-26). The IUPUI Jaguars finished second in the tournament.
Indiana State, now 4-5 on the season, will be on the road Tuesday night when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., for a 6 p.m. match against the Butler Bulldogs. The Sycamore-Bulldog match will be web streamed along the Horizon League network.
Fans can go to www.horizonleague.com to watch the match. Registration is required but the event is free to view.
The Sycamores will have little time to rest after that as they hit the road again this weekend, visiting Southern Illinois on Friday in the Missouri Valley Conference opener and then playing at Evansville on Saturday.
