TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State women's golf team, under the direction of head coach Mike Whitson, ranked 14th nationally in team grade point average this season among all NCAA Division I programs with a mark of 3.537.

The Sycamores were the only team from the Missouri Valley Conference to appear in this season's Top 25 rankings as released earlier today (July 21) by the National Golf Coaches Association.

Last week, a national-best five Sycamore golfers were named to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team. Those honored were Kelsea Ice, Breanne Smith, Kayley Bodine and Mackenzie Mack as repeat selections while freshman Diana Price was named to the prestigious list for the first time.

“I am very proud of our team for ranking among the nation's elite in team grade point average,” Whitson commented. “This is a great accomplishment for our team to be in the nation's Top 25. It shows that our student-athletes take a lot of pride in their academic work. Academics have become an integral part of our program's success.”

The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
