NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State women's golf opened the fall season at the Redbird Invitational, hosted on the campus of Illinois State. The Sycamores finished 13th of 16 teams.
The tournament featured 16 total teams and more than 90 golfers. Indiana State carded a team score of 943 (+79, 308-313-322).
Sophia Florek was the best finisher for Indiana State, placing 23rd shooting a 227 (73-76-79). She recorded a new low in a three-round tournament with her 227 (+11), beating her previous best of a 232 recorded twice, last done at the 2024 Redbird Invitational (she shot a 232 at the Butler Intercollegiate last fall, but it is a par-70 course making her score +22). On the opening day of this tournament, she sank three birdies to hold a one-over score heading into the second 18, where she capped the day at four-over to remain inside the top 15 in the tournament.
Yang Tai carded a 238 (79-81-78). She finished with her best round of the tournament in round three, tying for the best for the day on the team with Florek.
Rosalie DiNunzio (76-82-83) and
Keira Brazeau (76-82-83) tied in the tournament with a 241. DiNunzio shot four-over in the first round, and Brazeau debuted in the Sycamore lineup with an 80.
Gabby Cone's second round ended at six-over, shooting 12 pars in the round (91-78-85).
Alana Gilbert played as an individual and finished 42nd (233, 74-79-80). Her opening round was two-over, splitting the front and back each at +1. She tied for third in the tournament in par-3s with a score of one-over.
