Breanne Smith Competes Well This Past Week At 99th Women's Oregon Amateur Championship

BEND, Ore. ? Indiana State junior Breanne Smith competed very well this past week at the 99th Women's Oregon Amateur Championship held at the Bend Golf and Country Club.

Smith fired rounds of 82 and 74 in the stroke-play portion of the tournament to finish in eight place heading into a 32-player match play tournament of the next two days of competition.

As the eighth seed in the tournament, Smith defeated Charisse Spada on the final hole to advance to the Sweet 16. Following that victory, Smith went on to defeat Sophie Elstrott in the round of 16 to send her to the tournament quarterfinals by a score of 3 and 1.

Smith's run in the tournament came to an end in the quarterfinals when she was defeated by current Oregon University player Kate Hildahl by a score of 4 and 3.

Smith earned 130 player points in the tournament towards the Oregon Women's Player of the Year Award based on her performance this past week.
