EVANSVILLE, Ind. ? The Evansville Purple Aces (7-2-2 overall, 2-0-0 MVC) proved they are the team to beat in the Missouri Valley Conference as they defeated the Sycamores for the fourth straight season (2-8-0 overall, 1-1-0 MVC) by a score of 4-0 at Black Beauty Field.
Kayla Lambert, one of the league's top scorers, helped the Aces maintain an undefeated 7-0 record at home by scoring two of the Aces four goals: the first and third. Mia Tofano notched the second and Susan McKinley tallied the last goal at the 84-minute mark. Lambert and Tofano combined for ten of the Aces 23 shots.
The Sycamores managed to get just eight shots off, four of which were on goal. Katie Geyman was responsible for two of those shots-on-goal while Amanda Gogel and Laura Painter tallied the other two. EU outshot the Sycamores 12-1 in the first half and 7-11 in the second half.
Taylor Nelson made four saves in the game as did her EU counterpart Theresa Babgy.
The Sycamores will look for redemption when they travel a short distance to Indianapolis for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the IUPUI Jaguars (4-5 overall, 1-1 Summit).
