The Indiana State University women's soccer team will open regular season play when they take part in the Milwaukee Cup co-hosted by Wisconsin-Milwaukee and cross-town rival Marquette University.

In their first match, Indiana State will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to take on the Panther's at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers, who went undefeated in conference play last season, were picked to finish first in the Horizon League preseason poll by league coaches. It was the team's eighth straight season topping the poll. Head coach Michael Moynihan returns eight starters from last year's squad, including six that were honored by the Horizon League following the season. Erin Kane and Sarah Teegarden head the list after their second-straight all-league first-team awards.

On Sunday, the Sycamores will go head-to-head against the Golden Eagles of Marquette University at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Fields Stadium. The Marquette women's soccer team was selected to finish third in the American Division in the 2007 BIG EAST preseason women's soccer poll. The Golden Eagles finished the 2006 season 12-6-5 overall under head coach Markus Roeders. Marquette welcomes back seven starters and 79 percent of its scoring from 2006 including second team All-BIG EAST honoree Allison Mallams, who led the Golden Eagles with 24 points on eight goals and eight assists.

The Sycamores were selected to finish sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll released last Wednesday, after a fifth-place finish last season. They return nine starters and their top three scorers, led by three-time all-MVC first teamer Lauren Podolski (8g, 9a). Indiana State is coming off a 2-1 exhibition loss to Ball State that was played this past Sunday in Muncie, Ind.
