Diana Price Joins Sycamore Women's Golf Program

Indiana State women's golf head coach Mike Whitson announced this afternoon (Aug. 15) that freshman Diana Price, a former member of the Sycamore women's track and field team, has joined the golf squad and will have four years of eligibility.

Price, a native of Terre Haute, Ind., and a 2006 graduate of Terre Haute South High School, carded a round of 75 in the IHSAA Sectionals during her senior year. She was a three-time All-Metropolitian Interscholastic Conference honoree and was a medalist seven times as a junior.

She led the Braves to the IHSAA Regionals in both 2004 as well as 2005.

As a freshman pole vaulter for Indiana State last spring, she finished sixth at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, held in Des Moines, Iowa. Price vaulted 10' 6" to score points for the Sycamores in the team competition. She likewise scored at the State Farm MVC Indoor Championships as she placed sixth in the vault, with a mark of 10' 8.25". Her personal-best vault of 11'1.75" came at the Iowa State Classic during the indoor season.

"Diana Price is a talented athlete who will be able to help our team right away," Whitson said. "She has displayed her athletic talents over the past year with the track and field team and I anticipate more of the same in golf over the next four years. She enjoyed a tremendous high school career, and has played at a high level in the past."

Whitson returns six letterwinners from one season ago, and in addition to Price, adds freshman Jessica Borstrand this fall.

The Sycamores open the season on September 10-11 when the compete in The Preview At The Brickyard.
