BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ? Indiana State senior Jordan Fife continued to dominate the mile run, setting a new school record in winning the mile run invitational event at the Hoosier Relays Friday night with a tie of 4:06.44. That is just a second off the provisional qualifying time.
Sean Bowman was also a winner for the men's track team, winning the 3000 meter invitational run in 8:28.68, which was not far from his personal best. Teammate Kyle Walsh finished third (8:34.21), Scott Keeney eighth (8:38.22) and Justin Kunz 11th (8:46.45).
James Twitchell, a sophomore from Terre Haute, won the 800 meter open event on Saturday with a time of 1:54.89 for the Sycamores other win of the Relays.
On Friday, Anthony Bertoli, another Terre Haute sophomore, finished second in the pole vault (15-feet-10) with Jake Conn taking fifth, Sean Wright was seventh in the men's 400 meter invitational in 48.74, and Brandon Youngdale was fourth in the men's high jump (6-foot-7).
On Saturday, Andrew Geller placed third in the 400 meter open race in 48.50, Bertoli was third in the 600 meters (1:21.28), Randy Place3ncia was fourth in the mile open (4:17.13), Antonio McDaniel took fourth in the 5000 meters (15:17.45), Paladin Jordan fourth in the triple jump (49-feet-11?), and Jeremy Gillingham fourth in the shot put (52-feet-0).
For the Lady Sycamores on Friday, the women's distance medley team of Dani Prince, Lauren Martin, Erica Moore and Laura Engle finished second with a time of 11:57.56.
Also on Friday, Leah Durr took second in the one mile run (5:17.43), Kayla Alexander fifth in the 5000 meters (18:08.41), Santia Spight fifth in the high jump (5-foot-7) and Diana Price seventh in the pole vault (10-foot-8).
On Saturday, Kylie Hutson placed second in the pole vault invitational with a vault of 13-feet-2?). Prince finished third in a highly competitive mile run invitational, finishing in 5:01.26 with teammate Engle placing sixth in 5:03.38. Adriane Wunderlich placed sixth in the 800 meters (2:18.62), Janae Bridges fourth in the long jump (19-0?), and Angel Canada sixth in the weight throw (53-feet-2?).
“Generally, we peformed pretty well,” women's head coach John Gartland said. “This was a highly competitive meet.”
