FRANKLIN, Ind. ? The Indiana State Sycamore women's golf team is currently in tenth place after the first day of play at The Shoot-out At The Legends. The first day of the event consisted of 36 holes of play.
The Sycamores shot a first round 311, and then followed that up with a second round 316 to finish the first day in tenth place at the 13-team event. Indiana State carded a two-round score of 627.
Eastern Michigan and Illinois are tied for first place in the event with a team score of 595.
Leading the way for Indiana State is sophomore Kayley Bodine who shot a first round 73 and then followed that effort up with a 78 to finish with a 151. Bodine is tied for 12th place in the event at seven-over-par.
Freshman Jessica Borstrand carded an opening round 78 and then posted an 81 to finish with a two-round total of 159, in a tie for 41st.
Sophomore Mackenzie Mack opened the tournament with an 83, but posted a 77 during her second trek around the course to post an opening day score of 160, good enough for a tie for 47th.
Sophomore Abby Butler opened play with a 78 and then posted and 83 to finish with a score of 161, in a tie for 50th. Sophomore Kelsea Ice's 80 and 82 totaled out to a 162 and is in a tie for 52nd place after the first two rounds.
Sophomore Breanne Smith rounded out to the Sycamore efforts with an 83 and 84 to card a two-round score of 167, in a tie for 66th place.
Heading into the final round of play tomorrow, the Sycamores are just one stroke behind Toledo (626) and three strokes behind Northern Illinois (624) for eighth place in the event.
Play continues with the third and final round at The Legends Golf Club on Tuesday, October 9.
