TERRE HAUTE, IN ? Ryan Strausborger scored the winning run off a bases loaded single by Brian Jett as the Blue edged the White 3-2 in the opening game of Indiana State University's Fall World Series played Thursday at Sycamore Field.
Action continues this afternoon as Game Two will be played at Sycamore Field starting at 3:00 p.m. Probable starters are Nate Inman for Team Blue and David Gurbach for Team White.
The third game of the series will be played Saturday starting at 2:30 p.m.
Josh Williams earned the win for Team Blue, pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Brian Oliver lasted 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, in taking the loss for Team White.
Brady Shoemaker and Brian Jett each had two hits on the day.
