TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Construction is already underway at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium as the home of Indiana State baseball will feature the brand-new Blackwell Bullpen deck beyond the right field wall for the upcoming 2026 season.
The project has been made possible entirely through private funding thanks in part to a gift from the Blackwell family. The 24 feet by 64 feet deck will run from the right field foul pole toward the existing video board in right center and will feature two tiers of countertops allowing fans offering additional opportunities to enjoy the game. Standing nine feet tall at its lowest point, the deck will offer fans a clear view of the action above the right field wall.
Stairs and an ADA ramp will be available for fans to access the Blackwell Bullpen with entrance located down the foul line next to the Indiana State baseball clubhouse.
"As the energy surrounding our baseball program continues its upward trajectory, it is incredibly exciting to see this project reach the construction stage," Indiana State Athletic Director
Nathan Christensen said. "Having the opportunity to enhance both our student-athlete experience as well as the game day environment for our fans is exciting. It has been a pleasure to get the know the Blackwell Family over the course of this past year. As we all know they have been very supportive of Indiana State University for decades and we are honored and thrilled that they continue to invest in our university and athletics department."
The Blackwell Bullpen deck will have a capacity of 125. Corporation and group rates will be available for the upcoming 2026 season. More information will come closer to the season.
"Before Mike passed away last summer, he was adamant about adding seating and a gathering area at Bob Warn Field," Mary Blackwell said. "This gift is a way of adding onto the stadium and honoring Mike's legacy as well. He loved Indiana State and as his family we want to continue his desire to better all Indiana State Athletic Facilities."
"Thank you to the Blackwell family for their continued support of the Indiana State baseball program with the creation of the Blackwell Bullpen," head coach
Tracy Archuleta said. "This added feature will only enhance the game day atmosphere for our fans and our team as we continue our preparations for the upcoming 2026 season."
The base for one of the Midwest's finest Division I collegiate baseball programs, Bob Warn Field has undergone multiple enhancements over the past decade. The installation of a FieldTurf infield, a new locker room and coaches' offices, the construction of a new seating area with both chairback and bleacher seats and a larger press box and parking lot highlight the renovation of the entire facility.
