TERRE HAUTE, Ind. ? The Indiana State University track and field team participated in the Terre Haute Double Dual meet hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon and came away with a pair of victories. The Lady Sycamores raced past Illinois State 94-52 while the men had the same kind of advantage, defeating the Redbirds 98-48.
“We weren't sure how good of shape we would be in after the Christmas break,” ISU men's coach John McNichols said. “We have a good team with a lot of talent and they did a nice job today.”
Kylie Hutson, a freshman from Terre Haute North, became a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March after winning the pole vault competition with a vault of 13-feet-0.25 inches. She attempted a vault of 13-6, which would have set a new Indiana State record but missed on all three attempts.
“I was a little nervous this morning but my legs felt fresh when I got here,” Hutson said. “The first few attempts were not very good but then I got into a rhythm and I felt like I could just keep going.”
