TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State head football coach Mike Sanford announced today (August 8) the addition of 14 student-athletes to the Sycamore roster during the first week of 2013 preseason training camp.

“One of the unique elements of coaching and recruiting at the FCS level is the fact that you are evaluating talent year-round and the summer is another key period in which you have to be ready to add to your roster for the fall,” Sanford commented. “We are committed to bringing in the best student-athletes to our football program and we have added 14 to our roster as a result of our coach staff's recruiting efforts this summer.”

The following is a list of players added to the 2013 Sycamore football roster following the National Signing Period, which concluded in February. Complete biographies can be found below this listing.

#81 Jeremiah Alphabet
Wide Receiver, 6-0, 155, Fr.-HS
Austell, Ga./South Cobb HS

High School: Played in 10 games as a senior with 29 pass receptions for 500 yards, averaging over 17 yards per catch ... Hauled in four pass receptions for touchdowns ... Also had three rushes for 33 yards ... Also lettered for four years as a member of the varsity track and field team.

High School: Served as his high school's long snapper during both his junior and season seasons while also working as the team's backup tight end ... Started at guard on the Normal West HS offensive line as a senior ... Also was a starter on his high school's baseball team ... Attended the Chris Rubio National Long Snapping Camps and was listed as one of the top performers at the 11th Annual National Long Snapping Event in Las Vegas.

As a senior, his team went 12-2 and he tallied 37 solo tackles and 55 total stops ... He averaged 3.9 tackles per game with 3.5 quarterback sacks and three forced fumbles with two fumbles recovered.

2012 (At Orange Coast College): A two-year starter, Cody was the anchor of the Coast defense racking up a team-best 98 tackles (50 solo) with three quarterback sacks, 16 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries ... Earned CCCFCA Region IV All-State honors ... In six of OCC's 10 games, Cody amassed double-digit tackles, including a season-best 13 against Moorpark on Sept. 1 and against College of the Desert on Oct. 6 ... In his final game for the Pirates on Nov. 3 against Fullerton, Cody picked up a season-best eight solo tackles, one sack, two TFL and one fumble recovery.

2011 (At Orange Coast College): As a freshman,Cody earned second-team, All-Eastern Conference honors after racking up 85 tackles (39 solo) ... Led the Pirates with three fumble recoveries and also picked up one sack and one interception.

2011 (At Charleston Southern): Played in four games at wide receiver for the season, and made 1 catch for 21 yards and a first down in season opener at Central Florida on Sept. 3.

High School: All-conference and honorable mention all-state wide receiver for Blythewood (S.C.) High School.

At defensive back, played in 10 games, recording 46 total tackles, including 28 total stops ... Averaged 4.6 tackles per game ... Owned the team lead with three inteceptions for 42 yards in returns and was credited with eight pass breakups.

Went over the 100-yard receiving mark four times, including a season-best eight-catch, 140-yard performance against Independence Community College.
