Indiana State Levels Second Half to Secure 2–2 Tie at SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Indiana State delivered one of its most resilient performances of the season on Sunday afternoon, battling back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2–2 draw on the road at SIUE. 

 The Sycamores generated steady pressure throughout the first half, beginning with early attacking sequences from Avery Oergel, Tori Angelo, and Meagyn Riffle, who helped push the tempo and keep the match in ISU's attacking half. Indiana State earned a series of corners as Riley Mathews, Quinn Urquhart, and Dominae Butler kept the Cougars under sustained pressure. 

The Sycamores created multiple strong chances before halftime, highlighted by  Meagyn Riffle's low-right shot in the 21st minute and Emely Lopez's bottom-left attempt at 23:54, both forcing saves. In goal, Sofie Zoëga Hansen delivered several important stops to keep ISU within reach. Indiana State's persistence paid off late in the first half when Addyson Warner buried a penalty in the 43rd minute, shifting momentum and giving the Sycamores a spark heading into the break. 

The second half showcased Indiana State's control and urgency. Riffle opened the period with an early chance at 45:19, and the Sycamores continued to generate pressure with two more corners. Dasha Tuckova added a blocked shot at 62:09, while Hailey Morgan, Peyton Wetzel, and Ashlyn Cohen helped sustain attacking rhythm through repeated entries into the final third. Indiana State's breakthrough came in the 81st minute when CharlieBleu Saunders finished a right-footed shot to the bottom center off a clean setup from Tori Angelo, leveling the match at 2–2. The Sycamores continued to push until the final whistle, defending a late SIUE corner at 89:10 and closing out a hard-earned road result.
