Beck named Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State baseball's Carter Beck was named this week's Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athletes of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.

Beck hit safely in all four games on the season and posted a .462 batting average over the three-game series at Murray State in leading the Sycamores to their seventh consecutive MVC series win. Beck posted a .563 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage, while driving in four RBIs and scoring a team-high four runs against the Racers. He added a team-high two stolen bases in the series.

Beck opened the weekend series going 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base in the opening 3-2 win over the Racers. His RBI single in the top of the fourth inning ended up being the game-winning run as he drove in Caleb Niehaus with one out in the frame.

Beck followed up with a season-defining game on Saturday evening as the junior outfielder went 3-for-4 from the plate with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored, a stolen base, and was walked twice, while making two outstanding catches in center for the final two outs of the game in the 10-8 series clinching win.

Beck scored the first run of the game in the first inning and then tied the game up in the fifth with a 447-ft solo home run to make it a 4-4 contest in the fifth. He added a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to put Indiana State ahead 8-5. With the Sycamores leading 10-8 in the bottom of the ninth, Beck sprinted from the left side of center field to make the second out of inning with a catch in deep right center. He followed by tracking the final out near the warning track in center to secure the catch in the 10-8 win.

On Sunday afternoon, Beck came through late with a single in the top of the eighth inning and worked his way around the bases to score on Emil Estrella's single in the two-run seventh inning to tie the game up at 7-7.

The Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every week throughout the 2025-26 athletic season.
