COLUMBUS, Ohio – Indiana State opened its weekend at the Ohio State Tournament on Friday afternoon, falling to the host Buckeyes 10-0 in five innings at Buckeye Field.
The Sycamores (15-13) looked to strike early in the first inning after Morgan Goodrich and Madison Poulson both reached on singles and moved into scoring position with double steals. However, Ohio State starter Jenna Meeks managed to escape the jam and kept the ISU bats quiet for the remainder of the contest.
Ohio State took control in the bottom of the second, using four hits to plate four runs. The Buckeyes added to their lead in the fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Cruse, to reach the final 10-0 margin and trigger the run rule.
