TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –
Emi Jeras hit her third home run of the weekend and drove in two runs to lead Indiana State to a 9-2 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Saturday afternoon at Price Field.
Jeras provided the big blow in a four-run first inning, drilling a two-run shot to left field to give the Sycamores (15-10) an early cushion they would not relinquish. The Sycamores took advantage of early UIC defensive errors while
Lauren Sackett provided a steady presence in the circle to secure the series win over the Flames (12-14-1).
Lauren Sackett (9-5) earned her second win of the weekend in the circle, navigating through the UIC lineup across 7.0 innings of work. Sackett allowed just two runs while scattering seven hits to limit the Flames' scoring opportunities throughout the afternoon.
Mallory Chavez contributed significantly to the offense, recording two RBIs on a sacrifice fly in the second and a two-run single in the third.
Madison Poulson and
Morgan Goodrich also crossed the plate multiple times as the Sycamores took advantage of three UIC errors.
