Box Score 1 EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana State Softball faced a tough road test Wednesday afternoon, dropping both ends of a doubleheader against Evansville at Cooper Stadium. The Purple Aces took the opener 8-0 in six innings before claiming the nightcap 10-2 in five.
In the first game, the Sycamores were held to just one hit as Evansville's pitching held back the bats. The Aces took an early lead in the first inning on an unearned run and extended it with a solo home run in the fourth. The game remained competitive until the bottom of the sixth, when Evansville exploded for six runs to trigger the run rule.
The second game saw the Sycamore offense show signs of life early. Indiana State earned runs in both the third and fourth innings to keep the score close. However, a seven-run outburst by the Aces in the bottom of the fifth inning, highlighted by several walks and timely hits, ended the contest prematurely.
