EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana State Softball faced a tough road test Wednesday afternoon, dropping both ends of a doubleheader against Evansville at Cooper Stadium. The Purple Aces took the opener 8-0 in six innings before claiming the nightcap 10-2 in five. 

In the first game, the Sycamores were held to just one hit as Evansville's pitching held back the bats. The Aces took an early lead in the first inning on an unearned run and extended it with a solo home run in the fourth. The game remained competitive until the bottom of the sixth, when Evansville exploded for six runs to trigger the run rule. 

The second game saw the Sycamore offense show signs of life early. Indiana State earned runs in both the third and fourth innings to keep the score close. However, a seven-run outburst by the Aces in the bottom of the fifth inning, highlighted by several walks and timely hits, ended the contest prematurely.

• Evansville: Taylor Howe reached on an error and scored on a Morgan Adams RBI single (0-1). 

• Evansville: Jess Willsey hit a solo home run to center field (0-2). 

• Evansville: Brooke Voss reached on an error; Ashtyn Holbrook and Jess Willsey scored (0-4). 

• Evansville: Taylor Howe singled to left field, scoring Emma McDonald (0-5). 

• Evansville: Niki Bode singled to right, scoring Brooke Voss and Taylor Howe (0-7). 

• Evansville: Maliyah Wilkins doubled to right, scoring Addyson Leonard and Dori Brown (0-11). 

Game 2 

• Evansville: Brooke Voss hit a two-run home run to left field (0-2). 

• Evansville: Morgan Adams singled to right field, scoring Taylor Howe (0-3). 

• Indiana State: Mallory Chavez singled to right-center, scoring Morgan Goodrich (1-3). 

• Indiana State: Morgan Goodrich singled to left-center, scoring Hannah Welch (2-3). 

• Evansville: Maliyah Wilkins walked with the bases loaded, scoring Taylor Howe (2-4). 

• Evansville: Jess Willsey singled to left, scoring Dori Brown and Addyson Leonard (2-6). 

• Evansville: Angela Valentine doubled to left-center, scoring Maliyah Wilkins and Jess Willsey (2-8).
