WATERLOO, Ill. – Indiana State women's golf competes in the 2025 MVC Championships at the Annbriar Golf Course, running from April 13-15.
The team is coming off a third-place finish at their own tournament in Terre Haute, shooting a season-low 295 in the first round. It's the only time this season finishing under 10 shots to par (+7), and it's the best round dating back through the 2022-23 season (three seasons ago).
The five on the course for head coach
Greg Towne will be
Briana LeMaire,
Yang Tai,
Sophia Florek,
Rosalie DiNunzio, and
Alana Gilbert.
Eliza Baker will be traveling as the alternate.
Through nine tournaments this season, LeMaire leads the team in average with a 73.36. She finished as the low player four times, including each of the last three tournaments (Florek and Gilbert tied LeMaire for low player at the Spring Invite). Three tournaments ago in Florida at the PFW Hammock Beach Invitational, LeMaire secured her first collegiate victory leading to the team's first-place finish.
Tai is second this season in average, shooting a 76.26 through eight tournaments. She has paced the Sycamores in three tournaments, including her first collegiate victory in the fall at the Braun Intercollegiate. She led the team to their first victory of two this season.
Florek is coming off her career-best performance, shooting a 149 with an opening round 71 (-1). She is averaging 77.82 through nine tournaments this year. The 71 was her collegiate low, shooting par on every hole except the one she finished with a birdie. Florek finished as the low player twice in 2024-25, the opening tournament in the fall at the Redbird Invitational and at the Spring Invite.
DiNunzio is heading into the tournament with a season-average 78.59. She has two top five finishes this season notched on her belt, once in the fall and once in the spring. Her best round this season came in the fall, shooting par at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational. This spring, her best tournament of the four came in Florida at the PFW Hammock Beach Invitational, finishing tied in fourth place at 7-over.
Gilbert, the only freshman competing for Indiana State, is also the only freshman of the three that has played in all nine tournaments this year. She, too, is coming off her season-best performance at the Spring Invite, shooting par in round two. Her 149 landed her in sixth place with a season-best 5-over, but her best placement came in the victory in the fall where she finished tied in fifth.
Indiana State was selected to finish 11th in the league in the
preseason poll, announced by the league off on Monday, January 31.
