PERFECT GAME – Indiana State right-hander Ryan Karst was named to Perfect Game's Missouri Valley Conference Preseason All-Conference team as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Karst's announcement comes one day after the Sycamores were recognized in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason Poll with Indiana State among the teams' receiving votes from the organization.
Karst heads into his first season with the Sycamores coming to the program by way of stops at UIC and Madison College. The junior made eight appearances on the mound with one start over the 2024 season at Madison College. He posted a 1-1 record over 15.1 innings with a 5.28 ERA while recording 13 strikeouts.
The Elm Grove, Wis. native transferred to Madison following his freshman season at UIC over the 2023 season where he appeared in 19 games and made five starts for the Flames. He posted a 1-2 record at UIC with an 8.68 ERA and 25 strikeouts on the mound.
Karst and the Sycamores hit the road for the 2025 season opener next week against Wagner as Indiana State opens Coach
Tracy Archuleta's first season at the helm with a neutral-site series in Gastonia, N.C. The three-game set between the Seahawks and the Sycamores will run from February 14-16 at Caromont Health Park.
