NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Indiana State battled back in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw at Belmont on Thursday night at E.S. Rose Park, as goals from Autumn Fairfax and Tori Angelo helped the Sycamores secure a road point in Missouri Valley Conference play.
After a scoreless first half that featured solid goalkeeping from both sides, the Bruins struck first in the 56th minute when Kennedy Wise found the back of the net with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner off a setup from Teagan Downs.
Indiana State answered with intensity and precision. Just 13 minutes later, the Sycamores equalized when Autumn Fairfax netted her first goal of the season at 69:24, finishing to the bottom center of the goal to level the match at 1-1. ISU continued to push forward and took the lead six minutes later as Tori Angelo connected on her third goal of the season, a low right-footed strike to the bottom right corner at 75:58.
Belmont found a late equalizer in the 85th minute when Laken Whittington scored from the center of the box to make it 2-2. The Sycamores created one more chance in the final minutes, as Isabella Berta forced a save from Belmont goalkeeper Sydney Jones, but the match ended level after a competitive 90 minutes.
Goalkeeper Delaney Timmons recorded four saves for Indiana State, while the Sycamore back line limited Belmont to four corner kicks in the second half. Offensively, ISU made the most of its chances, finding both goals from open play in a ten-minute span.
