TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's cross country's
Emma Gresham was named this week's GoGo Squeez ISU Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
Gresham shattered the Indiana State school record in the women's four-kilometer race this past Friday at the Sam Bell Invitational. The Lynnville, Ind. native finished second overall in the race in leading the Sycamores to the team win at the four-team event held at the IU Championship Cross Country Course.
Gresham crossed the finish line in 14:14.8 breaking a mark that had stood since 2003 when Jessica Crowder went 14:17 at LaVern Gibson. The sophomore stayed with race-winner Claire Curtsinger (Cincinnati) and was paced by teammate
Erica Barker (14:19) on the way to starting off the 2024 season on a strong note.
The Sycamores recorded 33 total points with the top seven runners finishing inside the top 22 in the field as Indiana State topped Cincinnati, host Indiana, and Southern Indiana at the season-opening meet.
The GoGo Squeez ISU Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every Monday afternoon throughout the 2024-25 athletic season.
