LEXINGTON, Ky. – Indiana State volleyball was recognized Wednesday afternoon for its work in the classroom during the 2023-24 season, as the Sycamores were selected as a recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award.
The award, which was earned by more than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball teams, honors programs that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Indiana State had three athletes earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors following the 2023 campaign, the program's most in nearly a decade.
Kaitlyn Hamilton earned Second Team MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, while
Karinna Gall and
Emma Kaelin were both selected as Honorable Mention MVC Scholar-Athletes. Gall was also selected to College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team, marking Indiana State's first Academic-All District honoree since 2014.
This season marked the 26th consecutive campaign that Indiana State earned the AVCA Team Academic Award, with the Sycamores owning the longest active streak across all three divisions in the NCAA. ISU is tied with NAIA institution Concordia University (Neb.) for the longest active streak by any college, regardless of division. Indiana State's 26 AVCA Team Academic Awards are also the most of any Division I institution, with the Sycamores earning the award in every season dating back to 1998-99.
