TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State softball's Hailey Griffin was named this week's Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
 
Griffin posted a 2-0 record on the week with a 0.00 ERA in leading Indiana State to the series win over Murray State this past weekend. The Sycamore right-hander went 11.2 innings posting 12 strikeouts and four walks to secure both wins against the Racers this weekend.
 
Griffin opened the weekend going 3.2 innings allowing one hit while striking out four in ISU's 2-1 win on Friday afternoon against the Racers. She took over with two runners on base in the bottom of the fourth inning retiring the final batter to keep it a one-run game. She proceeded to keep the Racers off the scoreboard the rest of the way retiring five in a row over the sixth and seventh innings to send the game into extra-innings, before getting the final out with a runner in scoring position in the eighth to secure the ISU win.
 
She followed up by going the distance with an 8.0-inning, complete game in Indiana State's 2-0 extra-inning win against the Racers. Griffin allowed three hits while striking out eight to keep the Sycamores in the loop to secure the series win. She pitched around base runners in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings in the complete-game shutout win.
 
It marks Griffin's second Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week after previously receiving the recognition back on March 4. She currently leads the Sycamores with a 2.87 ERA over 75.2 innings pitched, while allowing opponents to hit .191 from the plate.
 
The Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every Monday afternoon throughout the 2023-24 athletic season.
