Farro, Kelley claim MVC Weekly Swimming Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State's Chloe Farro (Swimmer) and Kaleigh Kelley (Freshman) took home weekly Missouri Valley Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Wednesday night.

The Sycamore duo wrapped up the 2023-24 regular season claiming the weekly recognition from the conference office following their win over Illinois State this past weekend at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.

Farro went undefeated on the day in leading Indiana State to a 205-94 win over Illinois State on Senior Day at the Vigo County Aquatic Center. The junior anchored the team's 200-yard Medley Relay squad that set a new ISU record, while winning both the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle events. She followed up taking the first leg in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay giving ISU nearly a two-second leg in winning the final event of the day.

Farro anchored the team's opening event swimming the freestyle leg of the medley relay as the team broke the ISU school record by .25 seconds touching the wall in 1:41.04. She followed up winning the 50-yard Freestyle in 23.23, before taking the 100-yard in 50.43. She wrapped up the day going 50.93 over the first portion of the 400-yard Freestyle Relay giving ISU a nearly two second lead in the event as ISU finished in 3:23.09.

Kelley tied the Indiana State school record in the 100-yard Fly, swam the third leg in ISU's record-setting 200-yard Medley Relay team, took third in the 50-yard Freestyle, and went second leg in the team's 400-yard Freestyle Relay win to highlight the final race of the regular season.

Kelley opened the day swimming the Butterfly leg of the 200-yard Medley Relay in 24.03 going faster than any other opponent in the event by .71 seconds. She followed up placing third overall in the 50-yard Freestyle in 23.55. Kelley saved her best swim for the 100-yard Fly tying Marni Gray's school-record 53.91 set last season at the MVC Championships to win the event by 2.3 seconds. She ended the day swimming the second leg of ISU's 400-yard Freestyle Relay winner going 50.75 in her leg as the Sycamores won the event in 3:23.09.

Farro's honor marked her third win of the season after previously being named the Valley's Swimmer of the Week back on both October 18 and December 6. Kelley becomes the second Sycamore freshman to claim the conference's weekly honor joining three-time honoree Claire Parsons (Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Dec. 6).
