Pottinger selected No. 62 outfielder by D1Baseball in the 2024 Preseason Player Rankings

D1BASEBALL – Indiana State outfielder Adam Pottinger became the fourth Sycamore to be listed among the nation's best at the NCAA Division I according to the preseason D1Baseball positional rankings as the website continues to unveil the top players at each position heading into the 2024 season.

Pottinger (No. 62 outfielder) joins teammates Grant Magill (No. 42 catcher), Josue Urdaneta (No. 44 second baseman), and Randal Diaz (No. 21 shortstop) on the list following a standout first season with the Sycamores while starting primarily in both corner outfield positions.

The Deerfield, Ill. native was the top-ranked outfielder in the Missouri Valley Conference and was one of three MVC players in the top-100 list joined by Missouri State's Zach Stewart (No. 74) and Bradley's Ryan Vogel (No. 79).

Pottinger returns to the field following a 2023 season that saw the rising senior earn MVC Second Team All-Conference honors and an MVC All-Tournament Team selection. He lined up in 59 games earning 55 starts in the outfield, while finishing second on the team with a .299 batting average and 11 home runs.

Pottinger led ISU with 51 runs scored, was second in drawing 31 walks, and was hit by a team-leading 22 pitches giving him a .449 on-base percentage. His prowess at getting on base led to a Mitch Hannahs era record 36-game on-base streak running from April 2 – June 4, while adding home runs against both Wright State and Iowa in the postseason.

He finished with a .992 fielding percentage including a team-high eight outfield assists on the year.

D1Baseball will continue to announce their player positional rankings heading into the start of the 2024 season.
