PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Indiana State's offense exploded for 11 runs over the fourth and fifth innings and
Parker Stinson and
Randal Diaz both homered as the Sycamores closed out their season-opening Florida road trip with a 12-5 win over Marshall on Sunday afternoon.

The seven-game win streak to open the year marks ISU's third-longest winning streak to open a season according to current records on hand and the longest the Sycamores went 7-0 to open the 2019 season.

The eight-run frame was highlighted by Diaz's first grand slam of the season as ISU sent 11 batters to the plate in the decisive frame.
Kyle Cortner (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Sycamores as the junior left-hander went 3.1-innings in relief of starter
Luke Hayden. Cortner allowed six hits and one run while striking out five in his first appearance of the 2024 season.

Max McEwen entered the game in the ninth inning and pitched around a pair of singles while striking out two in his ISU debut.
All nine Sycamores in the starting lineup scored runs in the game with seven hitting safely in a balanced offensive attack. Pottinger, Stinson, and Magill all posted multi-hit games, while Diaz (4), Stinson (3), Brown (2), and Magill (2) all had multi-RBI contests.
