Sycamore divers head to A3 Performance Invitational this week

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State diving squad heads back into competition this week as the Sycamores travel to Carbondale, Ill. to take on the field at the A3 Performance Invitational held inside the Shea Natatorium.

"We're moving into the midway point in our season," Diving Coach Teresa Hall said. "I'm looking forward to giving the athletes an opportunity to use the more difficult dives in their lists. This meet is a great setup for our team midseason meet at Miami (Ohio) where the diving points count for the whole team."

Daniela Orta Castaneda has been the Sycamores' most consistent diver on both the 3M and 1M Springboard events heading into the season. The Naucalpan, Mexico native posted her season-high on the 1M board back on October 18 against Eastern Illinois when she turned in a six-dive score of 228.82. A pair of freshmen have taken the next two positions on the team with Ella Taylor and Lucia McDougall finishing among the Sycamores' leaders on the boards. Taylor posted a season-best 218.02 on the 1M board against Eastern Illinois, while her score of 205.50 against the Panthers is her top score on the 3M. McDougall posted a season-best 201.53 on the 1M this past weekend against Toledo, while her top score of 219.90 on the 3M came on Saturday at Eastern Michigan.

Brenna Woodruff continues to progress in her second season on the diving boards as the LaPorte, Ind. native has posted new career marks this season. Woodruff's score of 188.10 against Eastern Illinois on the 1M is a career-best, while her score of 190.58 against Eastern Michigan also was a top career mark.

Sycamore freshman Angelina Damiano rounds out the group of Indiana State athletes on the boards. Damiano posted a season-high 166.13 on the 1M at the House of Paign Invite, while adding a season-best 156.75 against Eastern Illinois.
