Indiana State Softball announces 2024 spring schedule

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Softball announced its schedule for the 2024 spring season which consists of 56 total games, including 14 home games at Price Field.

Perniciaro and his team will spend the first six weeks of the season on the road which includes five tournaments. The Sycamores open up their spring season Feb 9-11 in Houston, Texas playing in the University of Houston Tournament.

"We are really excited for this upcoming season, " said head coach Mike Perniciaro. "We've got a great group and coming off of last season, we expect to start the 2024 season at the top of the valley and we're going to challenge everybody else in the conference to win the conference championship. The first couple of weeks on the road will allow our team to bond and build a good chemistry with one another."

For the next three weekends, the Sycamores will be in Tennessee playing in the Tennessee State University Tournament (February 16-18) in Nashville, Tenn., the University of Memphis Tournament (February 23-25) in Memphis, Tenn., and will finish in Clarksville, Tenn., (March 1-3) playing in the Austin Peay Tournament.

A week later, the Sycamores will travel to Hunington, W.Va., to play in the Marshall University Tournament from March 8-10.

The Sycamores will wrap up their six weekends of travel in Evansville, Ind., on March 12 and 13 and face their first Missouri Valley Conference opponent of the season.

After 27 straight road games, the Sycamores will kick off their first home game at Price Field the weekend of March 15-17 where they will host the Bradley Series.

The Sycamores will have three midweek non conference games which will take place April 3 against Illinois in Champaign, Ill., as well as April 10 against Purdue in Lafayette, Ind., and to wrap up the non conference games, the Sycamores will host Butler at Price Field on April 17.

"This season we are playing eight Power 5 games and we will use these games to challenge ourselves and compare ourselves to the Power 5 conference. Our goal is not just to compete with them, but to beat those Power 5 schools. These games will also better prepare us for conference play, as the Missouri Valley Conference is really solid and competitive."

Other home series at Price Field include matchups with Belmont (March 29-31), Illinois State (April 19-21), Southern Illinois (April 26-28). Last game of the three game series against Evansville will take place at home on April 24. Other away series include trips to UNI, (March 22-24), Murray State (April 5-7), UIC, (April 12-14) and Missouri State (May 3-5).

The MVC Tournament will be held in Normal, Illinois this year from May 8-11 with the tournament champion earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
