NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State women's soccer defeated Illinois State 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field to improve to 2-0-1 in MVC play.
After a quiet 38 minutes of play in the first half,
Carlie Jensen broke a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal to give the Sycamores a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. It was Jensen's first goal of the 2022 season.
Maddie Alexander made four of her six saves in the second half to keep the Redbirds off the board and secure the shutout victory.
Indiana State finished with seven shot attempts, putting three on goal while Illinois State had 13 attempts on the afternoon.
Mackenzie Kent had a team-high two shots to lead the Sycamores.
The Sycamores will look to extend their winning streak to three games on Thursday when they head to Murray, Kentucky to face a new member of the MVC in Murray State.
