TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer was unable to overcome a trio of second-half goals as the Sycamores fell to visiting Toledo on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, 3-0.
The Sycamores (0-2-1) honored the six seniors in their 2022 class in a pregame ceremony prior to the game.

Chloee Kooker,
Serra Hanrahan,
Anna Holcombe, and
Liz Humphrey were all recognized with their families on the field prior to kick-off as the Sycamores closed out their home August schedule.
Morgan Otteson scored two goals for visiting Toledo (1-1-2), while Ashton Cassell added a goal in the 81st minute as the visiting Rockets picked up the win.
Mackenzie Kent led the Sycamores with two shots, including Indiana State's lone attempt on goal in the contest, while
Audrey Stephens and
Ella Roesch also fired shots in the contest.
Tara Hoffman and
Maddie Alexander both picked up three saves each for the Sycamores in goal. Toledo's Emma Boutorwick recorded one save in the win.
Both teams played out a scoreless first half on a hot day at Memorial Stadium. The teams broke for water breaks in both halves with the heat index hovering around triple-digits on the artificial turf.
Mackenzie Kent put the Sycamores' lone shot on goal in the 13th minute in the bottom left, but Boutorwick was there for the save to keep the scoreless contest intact.
Toledo broke the seal on the goal in the 61st minute as Morgan Otteson collected the rebound on a penalty kick inside the box. Her second attempt went into the lower right corner of the net and gave the Rockets the 1-0 lead.
The Rockets added goals in the 81st and 84th minutes with Ashton Cassell firing from the top left of the box, while Otteson scored her second goal off the assist from Stephanie Currie to provide the final margin.
The Sycamores had one final attempt to get on the scoreboard in the 67th minute as
Ella Roesch fought for position in the box on the corner kick. Her header attempt cleared the cross bar and went out of play to cap the ISU scoring attempts.

Indiana State is back on the road next week as the Sycamores make the trip to Bloomington, Ind. for a Thursday night contest against Indiana University. Kickoff between the Sycamores and the Hoosiers is set for 8 p.m. at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
