TERRE HAUTE, Ind – Indiana State women's soccer played to a 0-0 draw against Eastern Illinois after a hard fought 90 minutes on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium in the Sycamores first action since August 18.
Indiana State almost cashed in multiple header opportunities in the first half as the Sycamores took nine shots while Eastern Illinois attempted seven in a scoreless 45 minutes of action to begin the evening.
The second half was mostly a possession battle as there were only five shot attempts combined with the game finishing in a tie.
Mackenzie Kent and
Audrey Stephens led the way with two shots apiece as the Sycamores finished with 10 on the night. Eastern Illinois ended the match with 11 shots, four being on goal.
Goalkeeper
Maddie Alexander returned to the starting lineup, making four saves in her season debut.
Freshmen
Adelaide Wolfe made her first collegiate start with
Sasha Thompson making her season debut for the Sycamores.
The Sycamores will host Toledo on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. ET matchup at Memorial Stadium. Indiana State will honor their six graduating seniors before the match.
