ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Football Conference announced the 2023 and 2024 competition dates and matchups in league play on Monday morning.
 
Indiana State will take on MVFC newcomer Murray State, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, South Dakota, North Dakota, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, and Southern Illinois as the conference announced the league schedule for the next two seasons. As a part of league's scheduling, Indiana State is not scheduled to compete against North Dakota State, South Dakota State, or Missouri State in conference play.
 
League members (there will be 12 MVFC institutions in 2023) will play eight Conference games each year. While the Conference cannot play a full round robin each season, it should be noted that every MVFC institution plays every other MVFC institution at least two-thirds of the time in a six-year cycle (at least 4 out of every 6 seasons), supporting continuation of league identity and increasing competitive fairness over time.
 
Staff had considered multiple options, including divisional play, four-team pods and a true rotation, before arriving at the current model, which utilizes agreed-upon scheduling principles, including maximizing bus trips to the greatest extent possible and protecting rivalries. 
 
Game dates for each MVFC institution accommodated facility and nonconference scheduling conflicts.

• Oct. 5 – Illinois State

• Nov. 9 – at Northern Iowa
• Nov. 16 – at Youngstown State
• Nov. 23 – Southern Illinois

Indiana State continues preparations for the 2022 season opener on Thursday, September 1, as the Sycamores welcome the University of North Alabama to Memorial Stadium. Kickoff for the game is set for 6 p.m. and will be carried live via ESPN+ and 105.5 The Legend.
