TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State head volleyball coach
Ashlee Pritchard unveiled the Sycamores' 2022 schedule Thursday. The 26-match schedule features eight non-conference matches and 18 Missouri Valley Conference matchups. The Sycamores will play nine home matches at ISU Arena, with all coming in conference play.
"I am looking forward to what this season has in store for Sycamore Volleyball," Pritchard said. "We have some great non-conference matchups to get us ready for our conference season. I am excited to build off of the success of last season and continue to elevate the level of Indiana State Volleyball. This team is going to be fun to watch this season."
Indiana State opens its regular season at the Indiana Invitational. The Sycamores will play Indiana in the season opener August 26 before facing Jacksonville State and Chicago State August 27. Indiana State will also play in tournaments at Western Michigan (Sept. 2-3) and Kentucky (Sept. 9-10). The Sycamores will face North Dakota, Wright State and Western Michigan at the Discover Kalamazoo Invitational, while playing Campbell and 2020 National Champion Kentucky at the Bluegrass Battle.
The Sycamores open MVC play at home Sept. 23-24 against Bradley and Illinois State, respectively, with Indiana State slated to play five of its first seven conference matches at home. Trips to Murray State (Sept. 30) and Belmont (Oct. 1) are followed by a three-match homestand against Missouri State (Oct. 7), Southern Illinois (Oct. 8) and Evansville (Oct. 10).
ISU hits the road for matches at Illinois State (Oct. 14) and Bradley (Oct. 15) before returning to ISU Arena for Homecoming Week matches against Northern Iowa (Oct. 21) and Drake (Oct. 22). The Sycamores close out October with matches at UIC (Oct. 28) and Valparaiso (Oct. 29).
Indiana State opens November on the road at Southern Illinois (Nov. 4) and Missouri State (Nov. 5) before returning to ISU Arena for its final two home matches of the season Nov. 11-12 against Belmont and Murray State, respectively. The Sycamores close the regular season Nov. 15 at Evansville.
The 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament is slated to take place Nov. 20-23 at Meeks Family Fieldhouse in Evansville, Indiana. The top eight teams will qualify for the conference tournament.
Indiana State returns three starters and its libero from the 2021 team that went 18-13 and reached the postseason for the first time in the Division I era.
Ashlee Pritchard enters her first season at the helm after previously turning Marian (Ind.) into an NAIA power.
