Sycamore alum Steve Ruckman named 2022 Frontier League Hall of Fame inductee

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State alum Steve Ruckman was recognized among the 2022 Frontier League Hall of Fame inductees as honored by the organization this past week.
 
Ruckman was part of a six-man class honored by the organization after three seasons in the Frontier League. The former Sycamore third baseman spent time with both Newark (1994) and Richmond (1995, 1997) over his professional career in receiving this honor.
 
"This another wonderful group of people that were not only successful on the field, but were top quality individuals off the field," said Bill Lee, Frontier League Commissioner Emeritus. "They are a great representation of their former teams and of the League."
 
Ruckman was the most dominant third baseman of his era in the Frontier League. He was consistent hitter that produced a career .316 average during his time and was also was a tremendous defender compiling a career .940 fielding percentage. He was twice named to the Frontier League Post Season All-Star Team at 3B.
 
Prior to his professional career, Ruckman lined up with the Sycamores from 1991-93 playing in 178 games in the corner infield. He posted a career .320 batting average at ISU with 16 home runs, 22 doubles, and 10 triples, while adding 53 stolen bases.
