Braves power past Sycamores in Sunday series finale

Box Score PEORIA, ILL. – Carson Husmann's three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be the difference in Sunday's series finale as Indiana State fell to host Bradley on Sunday afternoon at Dozer Park, 5-3.

Every time Indiana State (23-16, 8-7 MVC) scored, Bradley (16-25, 7-8 MVC) had a response as the Sycamores and Braves battled through another close ballgame on Sunday.

Parker Stinson scored two runs for the Sycamores, while Josue Urdaneta broke up Bradley starter Nick King's no-hit bit in the top of the seventh inning with a RBI single to give Indiana State a 2-1 lead late in the contest. Bradley responded in the bottom of the seventh with Connor O'Brien's two-out double sparking the three-run inning highlighted by Husmann's home run to left center to give the Braves a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Husmann and Ryan Vogel both homered to pace Bradley's offense on Sunday as the Braves took the series win over the Sycamores. O'Brien and Keaton Rice both doubled as the Braves finished with 10 hits in the win.

King surrendered just one hit and two runs (one earned), while striking out 11 in the no-decision. Eli Campbell (1-4) picked up his first win as the Braves took the lead with him on the mound. Troy Hickey (S, 2) went the final 1.1 innings to pick up his second save.
