BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A pair of Indiana State track and field athletes made their NCAA East Preliminary Round debut Thursday at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.
Jayla Bynum had the highlight of the day in the shot put for the Sycamores with her second-best throw of the season. Bynum's top mark of 15.05m (49-04.50) placed her 37th in the field. She finished her Indiana State career ranked in the top 10 in the shot put both indoor (seventh) and outdoor (sixth).
Selene Weaver cleared a pair of bars in the pole vault to finish 36th with a top mark of 3.96m (12-11.75) in her East Preliminary debut. Weaver finished the season ranked fourth in program history in the event.
Bynum was the first Sycamore to compete in the women's shot put since
Erin Reese and Cassaundra Roper in 2019, while Weaver's appearance in the women's pole vault was the first by a Sycamore since Kimyanna Rudolph in 2015.

Friday's action at the NCAA East Preliminary round will see four Sycamores compete.
Wyatt Puff (discus),
Nathan Kiger (high jump),
Shomari Rogers-Walton (triple jump) and
Luigi Rivas (110m hurdles) will all be in action for the Blue and White.
