TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer picked up a conference point on Sunday afternoon with a 1-1 draw against Northern Iowa at Memorial Stadium.
In what turned into a high-volume shooting affair, UNI had their foot on the gas early, outshooting the Sycamores nine to two in the first half.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the locker room after knocking in a header goal from a corner kick in the 39th minute.
Tara Hoffman made six saves in the first half as UNI put seven shots on goal.
Offense picked up in the second half for the Sycamores as ISU attempted 11 of their 13 shots after halftime.
CeCe Wahlberg was active on the attack, putting five shots on goal.
In the 75th minute
Ella Gorrie cashed in on a deflection from the Northern Iowa goalie to level the match at one. It was Gorrie's team-high second goal of the season.
Anna Holcombe picked up her first assist of the season on the score.
Northern Iowa finished the match with 20 shot attempts, putting 10 of them on goal.
Tara Hoffman saved nine of them on the afternoon to set a new career-high.
The score would hold for a 1-1 draw to move the Sycamores record to 2-1-2 in the conference while UNI is now 1-2-2 in Valley play.
The all-time series between ISU and UNI is now 9-6-4 in favor of the Sycamores. This is the first tie in the series since 2016.
CeCe Wahlberg is now just three shots on goal away from becoming the all-time leader in program history in the category.
