TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State returns to the friendly confines of the Hulman Center Saturday afternoon when it takes on preseason MVC favorite Missouri State...Tipoff between the Sycamores and Lady Bears is set for 1 p.m. and will be carried live on ESPN+ and 105.5 The Legend.
Canned Food Drive
The Indiana State Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will be hosting a Canned Food Drive in conjunction with the Jan. 29 women's basketball game versus Missouri State and Feb. 2 men's basketball game versus Drake. Fans are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable foods to be collected on the concourse of the Hulman Center. Donations will benefit the Sycamore Pantry on the ISU campus.
Indiana State's SAAC will be competing against Illinois State and Missouri State's SAAC to collect the most items. Collection items include boxed meals, boxed cereal, bottled watter, peanut butter, canned soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned stew, canned tuna or chicken, canned beans, pasta, pasta/spaghetti sauce, rice and gluten-free items.

Culver's "Drive to 25"
The Culver's "Drive to 25" promotion for The Forest at home women's basketball games continues with Saturday's contest. Students in the The Forest will receive promo cards for a free butter burger from Culver's if the women's basketball team scores 25 points or more in the first half against Missouri State.
Last Time Out
Del'Janae Williams had a game-high 24 points Friday evening, pacing Indiana State in an 85-65 win over Valparaiso at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Williams added four assists and was one of four Sycamores to score in double-figures, including three starters.
Marie Hunter had 19, while
Arianna Smith recorded her first career double-double with career-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Tonysha Curry finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.
Indiana State led for nearly the entire contest, including all of the second half. The Sycamores never trailed by more than one possession and used a 13-1 run late in the second quarter to take the lead for good. ISU shot 51 percent from the field in the game and scored 48 second-half points to break open what was a tight game in the first half.
A Closer Look at Missouri State
Missouri State enters the weekend at 14-4 overall and 5-2 in MVC play after an 82-35 win over Evansville in its last game. The Lady Bears are 5-2 on the road this season, including a win at USC.
Abigayle Jackson led a trio of Lady Bears in double-figures against Evansville with a game-high 25 points. Paige Rocca had 14 for MSU off the bench, while Sydney Wilson added 13.
Wilson leads the Lady Bears' active players in scoring at 11.4 points per game, while Calip (11.1) and Jackson (11.0) both average double-figures, as well. Jackson also leads the team in rebounding (6.6), while Calip has a team-high 52 assists and 42 steals.
Missouri State lost a pair of starters to season-ending injuries in preseason all-conference selection Jasmine Franklin and honorable mention all-conference performer Abby Hipp.
Series History Against Missouri State
Missouri State has a 63-18 lead in the all-time series and has won each of the last 14 meetings between the schools.
The Sycamores and Lady Bears last met during the 2019-20 season, with Missouri State winning the last game between the teams in Springfield, 82-58. Jasmine Franklin led all players with 17 points for the Lady Bears, while
Caitlin Anderson (15) and
Marie Hunter (14) combined for 29 points to lead Indiana State.
Weekly Winner
Del'Janae Williams earned conference and national recognition following Indiana State's wins over Evansville and Valparaiso. The junior guard was named MVC Player of the Week on Monday and also earned a spot in the NCAA's Weekly Starting Five for her performance in the two Sycamore wins.
Williams averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game in the two games last week, racking up her third and fourth 20-point games in the process.
Balanced Attack
Indiana State's offense doesn't necessarily have a marquee scorer, but that plays to the benefit of the Sycamores. Eight different players have led the Sycamores in scoring in a game this season, with
Del'Janae Williams having a team-high five games as the Sycamores' leading scorer.
Thievery
Indiana State's defense continues to remain among the nation's best as the Sycamores enter Friday's contest sitting in the top 25 in three team defensive categories. The Sycamores are 10th in steals per game (12.4), 14th in turnovers forced (22.60) and 24th in total steals (186). Indiana State leads the Missouri Valley in all three statistical categories.
The Sycamores have frequently disrupted opposing offenses this season, recording at least eight steals in every game this season. ISU has 13 games with 10 or more steals this season, including each of the last seven games.
Pound the Paint
Indiana State made its presence felt on the interior in its last game against Valparaiso. The Sycamores were plus-21 (41-20) in rebound margin against the Beacons, including 18 offensive rebounds.
Indiana State scored a season-best 58 points in the paint against Valpo and also had 26 second-chance points.
Banner Year
The 2021-22 season has already seen multiple Indiana State players set career highs in the scoring column. Overall, five different returning Sycamores have set new career bests in scoring this season, with a pair of newcomers also posting double-digit efforts this season.
Del'Janae Williams had a career-high 26 in Indiana State's road win over Georgia Southern in one of her four 20-point games this season, as she scored 24 against Chicago State, 21 against Evansville and 24 against Valpo.
Adrian Folks had a career-best 24 in a double-double at Saint Louis, while
Mya Glanton set career-high marks of 22 points and 16 rebounds against Western Michigan.
Marie Hunter (19 vs. Jacksonville State, 22 vs. Bradley) and
Natalia Lalic (13 at Georgia Southern and vs. Bradley, 20 at Drake) have also set their career highs in scoring this season. In addition, newcomers
Tonysha Curry (15 vs. UIC, 13 vs. Valpo),
Anna McKendree (13 vs. Stephens (Mo.), 14 at Purdue Fort Wayne, 10 at Drake, 18 vs. Illinois State) and
Arianna Smith (11 at Western Kentucky, 11 vs. Bradley, 15 vs. Valpo) have hit double-figures in scoring during their first seasons in the Blue and White.
