MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Indiana State volleyball will make the trek south to Tennessee this weekend for a pair of matches in the Volunteer State as they continue their season-opening road swing.

OPENING SERVE
Indiana State volleyball is set for the second weekend of competition when they head to Tennessee for matches with Alcorn State at 2 p.m. on Friday in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Belmont in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Saturday's matchup, a part of the Music City Invitational, will be streamed live on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Sycamore volleyball opened the season at the College of Charleston Invitational last weekend, going 1-2 in three matches. The Trees opened the tournament with a 1-3 defeat to Kennesaw State before bouncing back in match two to defeat MAC foe, Eastern Michigan, 3-1. ISU ended the weekend against host, College of Charleston, falling to the Cougars, 1-3. The Sycamores won all three opening sets of the weekend.Â

CLIMBING THE LADDER
After a strong opening weekend at the College of Charleston Invitational,
Melina Tedrow continued to move up the Sycamores volleyball record book. Tedrow tallied a total of 55 digs (4.58 per set), including a 23-dig performance against Kennesaw State, to move up to seventh in ISU history in career digs with 1,242. She now sits just 26 digs away from sixth in school history. Nationally, Tedrow's 55 total digs sit at 40th in the NCAA and third in the Missouri Valley Conference.

QUICK STARTS
Indiana State opened each match over the weekend at College of Charleston with a first set victory in dominant fashion. ISU averaged 14.67 kills in the opening sets of the tournament, hitting no lower than .333 in any opener. Only Kennesaw State managed to hit over .300 in a first set against the Trees with the defense also maintaining control early over Eastern Michigan (.176) and College of Charleston (.000). Set two plagued the Sycamores, however, with the Trees hitting below .100 in two of three matches.

SERVES UP
The Sycamore service game was impressive during the opening weekend with the Trees recording 18 aces through three matches, giving them an average of 1.5 per set. Their 18 aces are the second-best mark in the Valley currently and the seven recorded by
Madeline Williams ranks her second in the MVC and 41st nationally.
