TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State women's soccer team will begin their regular season campaign on the road as they travel to Eastern Illinois on August 19 for a 5 p.m. ET tilt at Lakeside Field.
The Sycamores are coming off a historic season in the spring which saw them finish with a .600 winning percentage, the highest in school history. A school record seven athletes were named to All-Missouri Valley Conference Teams, including First Team All-Valley honors for sophomores
CeCe Wahlberg and
Chloee Kooker. Indiana State returns 18 letter winners from a team that finished second in the Missouri Valley last spring and hosted a tournament game for the first time in five years.
Julie Hanley enters her sixth season as head coach for Indiana State. She welcomes eight freshman to the roster this fall and is looking to lead the Sycamores to back-to-back MVC Tournament appearances for the first time since 2013.
Eastern Illinois finished 10
th in the Ohio Valley last spring with a record of 2-7-1. The Panthers return their two leading goal scorers in Itxaso Aguero and Nicoletta Anuci. They are led by Jake Plant who enters his fourth season as head coach, owning a record of 12-25-11.
