CHICAGO – The Indiana State softball team split a doubleheader against Loyola on Friday afternoon at the Loyola Softball Field. The Sycamores took game one by a score of 2-1 in ten innings before dropping the nightcap, 3-1.
Indiana State moved to 19-26 on the season and 12-14 in MVC play while Loyola sits at 11-28 and 7-16 in Valley action.
Game One – Indiana State 2, Loyola 1
Loyola jumped out in front first scoring the first run of the contest on a double.
Lexie Siwek answered in the bottom half of the second with her first career home run down the left field line.
After seven scoreless innings,
Amanda Guercio connected on her seventh home run of the year to give the Sycamores 2-1 lead.

Game Two – Loyola 3, Indiana State 1
The Ramblers struck first plating two runs on back-to-back singles in the bottom of the third inning. Loyola extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth, 3-0.
The Sycamores got a run back on a ground out by
Kaylee Barrett, but ultimately fell short.
