TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State softball team dropped the series finale against Missouri State on Sunday afternoon in a back-in-forth battle by a score of 8-7 at Price Field.
 
Indiana State dropped to 18-25 on the season and 11-13 in MVC play while Missouri State improved to 23-16 and 14-6 in Valley action.
 
True freshman Isabella Henning set a season and career high with two home runs and three RBIs in the contest.
 
Indiana State jumped out in front in the bottom of the first inning when Henning hit a two-run home run over the left field wall, her seventh of the season. Missouri State got on the board in the top of the third with a home run over the center field wall.
 
The Bears tied the game up at three runs apiece in the top of the fifth on two singles. Cassie Thomerson came in clutch with a two-run single up the middle to give the Sycamores a 5-3 lead.
 
Missouri State answered with a four-run top of the sixth on three hits. Henning hit her second home run of the game to pull the Sycamores within a run, 7-6.
 
In the top of the seventh, the Bears got an insurance run on a single to left field. Indiana State would plate another run on a sacrifice fly, but their comeback wasn't enough to overcome Missouri State.
