TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State baseball is set to wrap up the regular season with a four-game series against Evansville beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. ET at Braun Stadium. The squads will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 2 p.m. before the finale on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Thursday's game will air on ESPN3 while the remaining three games of the series will air on ESPN Plus. » The Sycamores come into play at 25-15 overall and 12-8 in Missouri Valley Conference play. ISU is hitting .271 as a squad led by Max Wright (.308, 8 2B, 11 HR, 29 RBI, .608 SLG) and Jordan Schaffer (.307, 7 2B, 3 HR, 24 RBI, 36 R, .405 SLG) while three other ISU batters are hitting above .270 on the year. ISU's Aaron Beck has jumped onto the scene with a .378 average with 34 hits in 30 games played (20 starts). Ellison Hanna II is also hitting .340 in 22 games (14 starts) with eight extra-base hits, including two home runs. Indiana State boasts the top team ERA in the MVC at 4.17. ISU's .979 fielding percentage ranks 19th nationally and first in the MVC.

» Evansville enters play with a 26-24 overall record and a 9-14 mark in MVC action. The Aces are coming off a weekend series win over Valparaiso after taking 3-of-4 against the Brown and Gold. The team is led offensively by Troy Beilsmith (.317, 15 2B, 6 HR, 31 RBI) and Kenton Crews (.316, 9 2B, 30 RBI). As a club, Evansville is hitting at a .264 clip while the pitching staff holds a 5.15 ERA. Shane Gray leads the rotation with a 6-2 record in 13 starts. He holds a 2.02 ERA and has struck out 70.

» The Sycamores lead the all-time series with Evansville, 107-65. Indiana State took two of three games at Braun Stadium in 2019. The two squads did not play in 2020 due to COVID-19.

» The Indiana State pitching staff has been strong this season, combining for a 4.15 team ERA which ranks 56th nationally and best in the MVC. As a team, ISU also ranks 10th in walks allowed per nine innings (2.91), 20th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.00) and 19th nationally in WHIP (1.26). Five Sycamores who have pitched at least an inning have ERA's under 4.00 through 40 games.

» Guerrero has started 11 games on the mound for the Sycamores and currently holds an 8-1 record. His 1.75 ERA leads the Missouri Valley Conference and ranks 13th nationally. Guerrero also leads the MVC in opposing batting average (.167), runs allowed (17) and runners picked off (3). He ranks in the top-5 in strikeouts (87-2nd), innings pitched (77.1-2nd), wins (8-2nd), walks allowed (12-2nd), doubles allowed (4-1st), earned runs allowed (15-3rd).

» Guerrero enters this weekend leading the MVC with an ERA of 1.75. Only two other ISU pitchers have ever finished a season leading The Valley in ERA. In 1983, Paul Quinzer led the MVC with a 2.04 ERA and in 2013 current Oakland A's pitcher Sean Manaea paced the league with an ERA of 1.47.

 » Connor Fenlong continues to pitch the ball well in relief. The right-hander has pitched 26 innings over 15 appearances and leads the team with a 1.73 ERA. Fenlong has struck out 23 while allowing eight walks while holding opponents to a .214 average against. He leads the Sycamores with five saves and has been a part of both of ISU's combined shutouts.

» Right-hander Jake Ridgway pitched 4.2 shutout innings in relief for the Sycamores over the weekend against SIU. The hurler struck out three and allowed only four hits in what was his longest outing of the season.

» Tyler Grauer sits at 19 career saves and is one shy of moving into a tie for second place. Craig Kozlowski holds the ISU career record with 26 saves from 1982-86. Austin Conway sits in second place with 20 career saves from 2014-17.

» Max Wright is currently on a 20-game reached base streak. The redshirt senior is third on the team with 44 hits while leading the team with 31 walks and eight hit-by-pitches. Wright has had 11 two-hit games this season as well as 11 multi-RBI games.
