Sycamore Defense Stands Tall To Shutout Evansville, 1-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Junior Sidney Ewing scored her first goal of the season in the match's third minute and the Indiana State defense did the rest, suffocating the Evansville offensive attack and coming away with a 1-0 road victory from Arad McCutchan Stadium.

The Sycamores (6-3-0, 6-2-0 MVC) matched their win total from each of the last three seasons with tonight's victory, doing so in only nine matches. Evansville (2-3-2, 2-3-2 MVC) will now have to go on the road to open the MVC Tournament.

Indiana State had won just once in Evansville in program history, last defeating the Purple Aces on their own turf in 2002. The victory also snapped a six-match winless stretch (0-5-1) for ISU against UE.

KEY MOMENTS
- Junior Sidney Ewing found the back of the net for the first time this season, scoring the Sycamores' earliest goal of the campaign in the third minute of play.
- At the midpoint of the first half, freshman keeper Maddie Alexander denied a Purple Aces' penalty kick opportunity and then turned aside the rebound attempt to keep the match at 1-0.
