OXFORD, Miss. – The Indiana State softball team split a doubleheader with Samford on Saturday afternoon. The Sycamores (4-7) escaped with a 6-5 extra inning victory in game one and dropped game two by a score of 3-2.

KEY MOMENT – GAME ONE
The Sycamore trailed for three innings until Mycaela Miller hit a clutch pinch-hit single up the middle to tie the game in the top of the seventh. Arielle Blankenship worked through a jam in the bottom of the seventh setting up the Sycamores to take the lead in the top of the eight with Bella Peterson driving in Kaylee Barrett on her groundout.

SCORING SUMMARY – GAME ONE
Top 1st – (ISU 1, SAM 0)
Bella Peterson crushed her second home run of the season over the right field wall putting the Trees on the board early.

Top 2nd – (ISU 2, SAM 0)
Back-to-back singles from Lexie Siwek and Alexis McCullough helped the Trees take advantage of a Samford error pushing another run across the plate.
 
Bottom 2nd – (ISU 2, SAM 4)
The Bulldogs put up four runs to take the lead on two singles and a double.
 
Top 6th – (ISU 3, SAM 4)
Isabella Henning led off the inning with a double down the left field line and Alexis McCullough singled to set up Cassie Thomerson for a single of her own plating Henning.
 
Bottom 6th – (ISU 3, SAM 5)
Samford added a run on a deep sacrifice fly.
 
Top 7th – (ISU 5, SAM 5)
The Sycamores tied the game up with a clutch pinch hit single up the middle from Mycaela Miller.
 
Top 8th – (ISU 6, SAM 5)
In international tiebreaker, the Trees took the lead from an RBI ground out by Bella Peterson scoring Kaylee Barrett.

Gabbi Schnaiter got the start for the Trees, throwing six innings and giving up three hits while striking out eight. Leslie Sims was the lone Sycamore with multiple hits with two.

The Bulldogs took the lead with an RBI single.

Samford added a run with a sacrifice fly.

Leslie Sims led off with a single and Bella Peterson crushed a triple off the right field plating a run. Amanda Guercio executed the suicide squeeze scoring Peterson tying the game.
 
Top 7^th – (SAM 3, ISU 2)
The Bulldogs took the lead with a sacrifice fly to center field.
