TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State softball team is set to hit the road for Valparaiso to continue Missouri Valley Conference play in three-game series. The Sycamores will open play on Friday, Apr. 2 with a doubleheader slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET with game two following at approximately 3:30 p.m. The series finale will be played on Saturday, Apr. 3 with a start time of noon.

The Valparaiso Softball Complex is closed to the public and only fans on student-athletes pass list will be admitted into the stadium.
 
Series History
Indiana State leads the all-time series 11-3 over Valparaiso. In 2019, Valpo took the series over the Sycamores, 2-1. The last meeting on April 20, 2019 resulted in an ISU 9-1 victory.
 
Three Things to Know

1. Powerful Peterson
   Bella Peterson continues to pace the Sycamores offense. The outfielder is ranked eighth in the conference with a .354 season batting average. Her .594 slugging percentage ranks her sixth overall in the conference. Peterson is also tied for first with her six doubles in the conference.
2. Dynamic Duo
   Lexi Benko and Gabbi Schnaiter were a force to reckon with earning a combined shutout win over UNI. Benko posted a 0.62 ERA in 11.1 innings of work going 1-0 over the weekend. Benko recorded 12 total strikeouts while only giving up a single earned run and only giving up two walks. Schnaiter posted a perfect ERA in 5.2 innings of work earning her first save of the season. She also fanned 12 batters only giving up four hits.
3. Scouting Valpo
   The Brown & Gold hold an overall record of 5-15, 1-5 in the MVC. Valpo has a team batting average of .222 with 32 extra-base hits. The Brown & Gold pitching staff has a 5.77 ERA through 121.1 innings of action. Peyton Moeder leads VU with a .295 average and 18 hits. Caitlyn Kowalski has a 4-8 record on the mound and a 3.39 ERA in ten starts.
