Indiana State Soccer Falls in Opener to Unbeaten SLU

SAINT LOUIS – Playing in its first action of 2021, the Indiana State (0-1-0) soccer team fell to undefeated Saint Louis (4-0-0) Tuesday night by a final score of 3-0 at Hermann Stadium.
 
KEY STATS
- Freshman keeper Maddie Alexander faced nine shots on goal in the contest, making six saves, while facing 24 overall shots.
- The Sycamores had two shots on goal, both from CeCe Wahlberg.
- Saint Louis has now outscored opponents 12-2 on the season, out-shot its opponents 75-22 overall and 32-14 in shots on goal, and earned a 35-10 advantage in corner kicks.
 
KEY MOMENTS
- With Indiana State building offensive pressure to start the second half, SLU keeper Emily Puricelli snagged what would have been the game's equalizer from the foot of Wahlberg to keep the Billikens' shutout alive.
- With just over 10 minutes to play Saint Louis got its dagger on a scrum in the box to put the game out of reach at 3-0.
