Salukis Shoot Past Sycamores on Friday Night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – In their first game back since Jan. 27, a short-handed Indiana State women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with Southern Illinois in the Hulman Center, falling to the Salukis 84-69 on Friday evening.
 
With the loss, Indiana State fell to 4-11 (1-9 MVC) on the season while Southern Illinois improves to 7-10 (4-8 MVC).
 
Caitlin Anderson had her season-best performance for the Blue & White to lead the Trees, tallying a season-high 22 points to go along with five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Jamyra McChristine added 13 points and three rebounds while Del'Janae Williams got hot late, contributing 12 points on 4-of-eight from deep. As a team, the Sycamores shot 24-of-55 (43.6%) from the floor.
 
The Salukis ended-up holding an edge on the glass, outrebounding the Trees 38-26, but Adrian Folks led all athletes with eight rebounds. ISU did manage to take care of the ball, ending the night with only seven turnovers compared to Southern Illinois' nine.
 
Makenzie Silvey led Southern Illinois with 26 points, six rebounds and six assists while shooting 11-of-18 from the floor. As a team, SIU shot 34-of-62 (54.8%) from the field and 10-of-24 (41.7%) from deep.
 
Indiana State and Southern Illinois will meet once again tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET inside the Hulman Center. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
