Curry tabbed MVC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Indiana State guard Tonysha Curry was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

Curry recorded her first double-double in an Indiana State uniform in the Sycamores' lone game last week, a 76-50 win over UIC. She tied career-highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds against the Flames, shooting 7-for-10 from the field.

Six of Curry's game-high 12 rebounds against UIC came on the offensive glass, which the Sycamores converted into four second-chance points. The 15 point-outing against UIC was also Curry's first double-figure scoring game of the season.

The weekly honor is the first for Curry in her career and the first weekly honor for Indiana State this season. Curry and the Sycamores return to action Monday evening at Purdue Fort Wayne in ISU's last non-conference game of the season.
